Sharon Cotugno started her yoga journey in 2000. After practicing a variety of yoga styles, Sharon’s true inspiration began when she met Lisa Rotell who introduced her to Iyengar Yoga.
Sharon began practicing at the Iyengar Institute of New York under the tutelage of James Murphy and Tori Milner, and achieved her Iyengar Teaching Certification in 2014.
Sharon’s background in anatomy and physiology has helped her connect to Iyengar Yoga and to the physical adjustment of the body. However, she also believes it has been within the brilliance of the Iyengar methodology that she has discovered a deeper level of internal exploration, unparalleled in any prior education or teachings. Sharon has expressed that the most profound, yet basic advice she has received along her journey is, “Don’t Stop”.
In 2017, Sharon will fulfill a dream of her’s and travel to India to study with the Iyengar family. As a teacher and a student, Sharon is eager to continually learn, grow, and share with others her limitless passion for the Iyengar practice.
