Since 1987, the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York (IYAGNY) has been a home to study the transformative subject of Iyengar Yoga. Together, we are committed to the journey of a lifetime pursuit of complete alignment of the body, mind, and soul. Together, we can continue to fulfill our mission to:
- Inspire and enable life-long learning and practice in the art, science, and philosophy of our method
- Develop, nurture, and offer teaching of the highest standards
- Build and support an ever-expanding, diverse community of dedicated teachers and students in our three-state region
As our organization has grown to more than 66,000 visits a year, so has our commitment to you, our students and teachers. In the past three years, we have expanded our faculty by more than 20%, increased the number of daily classes at both our New York and Brooklyn Institutes, and created new programmatic offerings for all, including kids, teachers, and more advanced students.
Thanks, in part, to the beneficence of our donors, we provide scholarships to needy students through the Lisa Rotell Memorial and Teacher Training Scholarship Programs, as well as offer a $5 weekly Community Class in Brooklyn. We partner with Brooklyn Community Services to teach intellectually disabled adults and have just begun a weekly class at the Brooklyn Health Center for the Hotel Trades Union. We continue our long-standing free classes for our community members with Breast Cancer and who are HIV positive.
In order for us to continue the quality programming and teaching that you’ve come to expect, we must rely on your generosity to help provide us with the support we need.
