Today, on the full moon of July, we celebrate Guru Purnima. It is considered an auspicious day to honor the teachers who have illuminated our path with their wisdom.
We want to take a moment and acknowledge Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar, whose light and devotion has spread so far and inspired many to join the path of Yoga.
In honor and celebration of our teachers, please enjoy listening to these interviews from the IYAGNY archives:
- B.K.S. Iyengar Interviewed in 1989
- Geeta Iyengar Interviewed in 1997
- Prashant Iyengar Interviewed in 2002
The light of the Iyengar Yoga lineage, the parampara, continues with Prashant Iyengar, Guruji’s only son, and Abhijata Iyengar, Guruji’s granddaughter.
Prashant has been generously offering his teaching through a series of videos called Online Education in Yoga. Listen to the first one and find more at iyengarnyc.org:
Abhijata studied by her grandfather’s side for sixteen years, and has been leading classes around the world for many years herself now. These were her introductory remarks from the 2019 Iyengar Yoga National Convention in Dallas:
Prashant gave a special live talk from RIMYI in Pune, India on the morning of July 5th, which was 11pm in New York on July 4:
