Lucienne was introduced to Iyengar Yoga in 1984 while she was studying for her BFA in modern dance in her native Amsterdam. She moved to NYC and completed the teacher training in 2006 under the guidance of Mary Dunn and James Murphy. Since 2004, she has made regular trips to Pune to study with the Iyengar family.
Now, certified as a Senior Teacher, she is enjoying the variety of exchange with the greater international community. She has taught workshops in Italy, Holland, Scotland, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Costa Rica as well as in NYC and its environs. Lucienne
is also certified as a Structural Integration Therapist. In 1999 she founded Studio Spine (studiospine.com
) in NYC.
Lucienne has an avid interest in the body and how it functions – as a tool for artistic expression in dance, as a tool for healing through bodywork, and as a tool to sharpen the mind as a yoga practitioner. “By exploring and defining the outer form, we find the layered composition of the form which gradually transforms our inner perceptions and ultimately ourselves.”
She is forever indebted to Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar and the generosity of her many teachers.
